Failed to capture the mic (macOS)

During the system check, Examus reads the input from your microphone. If you see the message "No sound from your microphone", try speaking loudly and clearly into the microphone until the check ends.

If that doesn't work, check your microphone volume settings:

  1. Go to the Apple Menu > System Preferences > Sound > Input. Check whether microphone volume and sensitivity are at an adequate level. Also make sure that the right mic is selected as an active input device.

  2. Try disabling noise reduction - in the same window uncheck Use ambient noise reduction.
  3. Try resetting NVRAM settings. This can be done by a combination of keys Alt+Cmd+R+P when switching on the laptop (the keys should be held when switching on until the characteristic greeting sound appears again).
  4. Open Apple Menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Microphone. Then select the checkbox next to the app (web browser) to allow it to access the microphone.
